#johannaktravels – Weekend in West Cork

written by Joanne September 10, 2015

I’m sharing some photos from my stay in West Cork last weekend. My entire family were staying in a beautiful house just outside Durrus, which is located on the Sheep’s Head Peninsula something which we also did this time last year.

We were blessed with great weather thank god – which was fantastic as one of my brothers was getting married!

The wedding reception was in Blair’s Cove and was the perfect venue. The food was fantastic – of course we had to take lots of photos :p

My two gorgeous nephews were also visiting from Canada. How cute are they?! Oisin and Donncha – lovely Irish gaelic names.

Nearby Bantry has some great restaurants if you are staying on the Sheep’s head; my two favorites are Organico and the Stuffed Olive.

And if you have some energy left there are great walks all around the peninsula – here’s a link to the Sheep’s Head website which details the different trails on offer.

We went out one day to see the lighthouse at the very tip of the peninsula, the walk takes about an hour once you park at the beginning point.

This weekend we will be staying in Glengarriff, West Cork where my sister in law, Andrea Robertson will be running her annual yoga retreat. Can’t wait to return to this town – it’s so picturesque and I will be putting up a blog post which details the activities of the retreat in more detail 🙂
